Music and Singing With A Difference

SINGING AND MUSIC are two of the oldest and most effective measures Nurses have to enhance their own health and to individually and collectively influence the health of millions.

"Music is God's gift to man, the only art of heaven given to earth, the only art of earth we take to heaven."
Walter Savage Landor

To reach the heart, music and singing has to come from the heart.
To effect attitude and behavioral change, music and singing has to have a distinctive educational value.
To overcome non-pathological depression, music and singing has to lift the mind and heart of the hearer.
To have a therapeutic value in pathological depression and psychiatric disorders, music and singing has to reach and stir the heart, mind, soul and spirit of the hearer.
To give purpose and meaning to life, music and singing has to bring hope, joy, peace and life.
To provide meaningful music and singing for Video/films on different aspects of Nursing management and patient/client care.
To encourage Nurses to develop and use their gifts of singing and music for their own pleasure and edification.
To help Nurses bring into their homes and the wider community of differing people groups cared for in hospital and the community, new dimensions of hope, peace, joy and purpose in life through goal directed singing and music.

Watch this page for fresh inspiration in song.

If you do not have access to Hymn books with musical scores, as you read the words of each song, ask the Creator of all things bright and beautiful to give you musical inspiration, then work out your own tune and let it flow from your heart and mind as you lift your voice in song.

Maintain a healthy state of mind
Sustain hope when physical and mental energies begin to tire
Regain our equilibrium by strengthening our heart and resolve
Achieve inner joy, calm and purpose

Music and singing are without doubt the universal language of mankind.

Let us unite with Nurses throughout our own nation and around the world caught in the aftermath of Cyclones, Earthquakes and droughts as well as the ongoing trauma of major man-made disasters: epidemics, communal riots and genocide; with their devastating. demoralizing and dehumanizing effects, by making each song a prayer from the depths of our heart.

Now, as you break forth into song during the course of each day, think of Nurses in sensitive borders and war zones such as Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, and then add Nurses from another State or Nation, until you have the joy of singing with and for, Nurses all around the world.

Our Theme Song, based on Ephesians 4:6 gives a fresh vision of our individual and collective potential in Nursing. It is beautifully rendered and portrayed in the opening montage of the video-film on Muscular Dystrophy. It also heralded the opening of this website. (Review Flash Movie)

Standing In Your Presence

Standing in Your Presence
With undivided hearts.
One in consecration to Your plan.
Voices raised in worship
Reaching for the mark.
Hands together Stretched across the land.

One Lord, One God
Caring for the mighty and the small.
One Hope, One Call
One Father over all.

We have the assurance in James 5:16 that "The effectual fervent prayer of righteous Nurses will avail much" so let the desire of our hearts be meaningfully expressed in song:

Teach Me To Pray

1. Teach me to pray Lord, teach me to pray;
This is my heart-cry, day after day
I long to know Thy will and Thy way;
Teach me to pray, Lord,
Teach me to pray.

2. Living in Thee, Lord, and Thou in me;
Constant abiding, this is my plea
Grant me Thy power, boundless and free;
Power with men and
Power with Thee.

3. Power in prayer, LORD, power in prayer
Here 'mid earth's sin and sorrow and care,
Men lost and dying, souls in despair:
O give me power,
Power in prayer!

4. Teach me to pray, Lord, teach me to pray:
Thou art the pattern, day after day;
Fill me just now with power anew,
Power to pray and
Power to do!

Just Think Nurse, a song in your heart could be the very instrument God uses to ignite a spark of love and hope in someone TODAY because the song in your heart will be reflected in your whole being.

The tune of "It Only Takes a Spark" is filled with the vitality of hope and joy.

It Only Takes A Spark

It only takes a spark to get a fire going,
And soon all those around can warm up in its glowing;
That's how it is with God's love,
once you've experienced it;
You spread His love to everyone;
You want to pass it on.

What a wondrous time is spring,
when all the trees are budding,
The birds begin to sing;
the flowers start their blooming;
That's how it is with God's love,
Once you've experienced it you want to sing,
It's fresh like spring;
you want to pass it on.

I wish for you my friend,
this happiness that I've found;
You can depend on Him,
it matters not where you are bound;
I'll shout it from the mountain top,
I want my world to know;
The LORD of love has come to me,
I want to pass it on.

I'll shout it from the mountain top,
The LORD of love has come to me,
I want to pass it on.

Psalm 95:1

"O come, let us sing to the LORD!

Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation."
