Workshops

The content of each workshop for Nurses is specifically developed according to the needs of the group or groups attending.

  1. The Nurse as a whole person using the ENFI Workshop Manual.
  2. Management of AIDS and all infections using the Nursing With A Difference Module on AIDS.
  3. Stress in Nursing using the ENFI Workshop Manual and all the Modules.
  4. One other topic using the appropriate Nursing With A Difference Modules.

This program was first conducted extensively in Punjab and Chandigarh, e.g., at Nehru Hospital, PGIMER, 93 out of 108 Charge-Nurses to CNO attended in groups of 10 to 25.

The Director and Deputy Director on two different occasions endorsed the value by giving free access and inviting the Coordinator to spend as much time as possible in the Institution.

In due course some of these Nurses established the first Continuing Education Department for Nurses in this prestigious institution.

Quality Control, Quality Assurance and Quality Development in Nursing using live situations from participants to work through issues.

"Helped to Be Helpers and Healed to be Healers".

When funds are available this program will form the basis of two 1/2 hour Television programs, the script for which has already been prepared.

"Disaster Mitigation in Nursing"

This program, based on the Ladakh, Jummu & Kashmir, Orissa, and significantly the Gujarat experience, and is kept up-to-date with input from each state visited within India as well as Sri Lanka and other relevant sources.

  • Nurses helping Nurses respond to recent grief and suffering.
  • Encouragement in Nursing.
  • Cultural concepts of servant and service with implications for Nurses.
  • Prayer, touch, manner of speech and caring attitude as useful modes in significantly reducing anxiety.

Workshop venues are selected for convenience eg: TRACI or in small/large groups in their work-sites, in hospitals and training centers according to need e.g. 200 Nurses gathered in the Auditorium at SKIMS in Srinager Kashmir while the lovely library of Northern Central Railway Hospital Delhi seating 200 has been almost full of Nurses on several occasions.

In one Hospital in Patiala the whole weeks program was conducted under the trees; in Ladakh one program was incorporated into a picnic on the banks of the Indus river, and near TRACI, a lovely quiet part has often been used.

Effective learning is both a painful and a joyous process.

Topic: The Indian Constitution and Laws relevant to Nursing

This workshop was conducted by Mr. George Parackin, Advocate Patiala House Court Delhi - 110001, At TRACI, Greater Kailash, New Delhi
Every Saturday from 9.00am to 3.30pm for 10 weeks.

To achieve the workshop goals and enable participants to bring forth good fruit it was essential that each Nurse:

  1. Actively participated in all sessions.
  2. During the week, used the information gained in the Institution in which she was employed.
  3. Came prepared to discuss her findings, positive and negative, with the group at the beginning of the next session.

In this way valuable insight and understanding was gained from testing in the situational reality of Nursing Service -Management and Administration with other professional Colleagues.

Further enrichment came from the many different perspectives and the wisdom gained as George listened, encouraged, guided and clarified the issues that challenged each Nurse.
