There is a great need to encourage one another and to inspire
the high achieving youth of today who are caught in a double-bind with the glitter and noise of the world, to realise that the rewards of being a well qualified, caring and compassionate Nurse far exceed any financial gain.
As each Nurse brings his/her all into God’s storehouse for Nursing, part of life’s reward will be the joy of realizing afresh the impact on the health services of his/her nation and the world, that has come from exercising one’s own unique gifts as an encourager in the total ministry of Nursing. This has been proven to have a significant influence in the thinking of young people as they make their career choice.
Young people like to climb every mountain but this is only possible when reality is equated with joy and peace in knowing that the acid test of the means to the end of their greater purpose, is best dealt with by the refiners soap and the refiners fire that will bring each one forth as gold.
Each Nurse a trophy of grace and with his/her colleagues, a blessing to millions. (Malachi 3: 1-5)
It is not possible to be an effective Nurse without getting hands, feet and uniform contaminated, but it is possible to Nurse by always having clean hands, a clean heart and a clean mind.

The shortage of Nurses is caused through many things including early retirement for health reasons. We are delighted to include a letter from a Nurse who has something special to offer from having been through the fiery trials with its accompanying depression.
This is a timely input as on one day alone two Nurses, one, qualified for only two years the other for ten years, faced depression. The younger had rung at 10.20pm saying she must talk but took about 6 weeks to come to talk! she is much burdened and wants to get out of nursing, a deeply religious Muslim Nurse whose mother’s death has left her fearful, what is after death? the other nurse, a devout Catholic Christian, resigned, went to her room and attempted suicide!
